Denver Doings

Image
Late last year my brother Andy decided he didn’t want to be my roommate anymore in Springfield and packed up and moved out to Denver. We decided it was about time we go see what the hype is about this Colorado city, and it did not disappoint. After crossing the state line from the lovely Kansas views, we were able to see some beautiful mountains as we approached Denver. We got to Andy’s, or shall I say “the fort” (yes my brother has an actual sheet fort in his room), around Dinner time and decided to hit up the sports bar down the street for a bite to eat. Little did we know it was Trivia night at “Stoney’s” and although we had a late start we ended with a slick third-place finish. Post dinner we hit up a few bars around Denver including a pretty cool arcade bar called 1up (don’t worry Chicago, this bar had nothing on your beercades). After a long day of traveling, we were pretty exhausted so we went to bed dreaming about exploring the big city the next day. Early the next morning,...

After about five and a half hours of driving across the ever so scenic Illinois and Missouri, we ended up at Abby’s Uncle Lee and Aunt Lori’s house just south of Kansas City. They have such a beautiful home on 6 acres of land with an awesome view. For those of you lucky enough to know Lee and Lori already know how kind and accommodating they are. They welcomed us in with open arms and cooked an amazing dinner of burgers and baked mac & cheese, not to mention the three-course breakfast ready for us the next morning and the towels and soap set out for us in the bathrooms. It was truly like being at a fancy hotel. We can’t thank them enough and it was the perfect start to our long trip. You can also thank Lee for inspiring us to write this blog! After the huge breakfast, we embarked on our journey to Denver across what seemed like the longest state ever, Kansas. To break up the drive and to add some excitement, we planned some novelty stops along the way. The first stop was t...

Welcome to the travel blog of Tyler and Abby’s western road trip, a.k.a. #TabbyTravels. On May 23rd, Tyler and I picked up Head West and headed west to start our month-long expedition. We will essentially be driving to Portland/Seattle and stopping many places along the way. Some of these places include Denver, CO, Durango, CO, The Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, San Francisco, CA, The Redwoods, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Banff, The Grand Tetons and a few other stops on our way home. Thanks to the generosity of our families we have a lot of great people to stay with along the way and many places to camp as well. Huge thank you Tyler’s parents, Mike and Sheila, for lending us their car and making our dream road trip a reality. Hope you enjoy some of our stories along the way or at least take a peek at some pretty cool pictures. -Abby
